Searching for the best iPad Pro 12.9 prices? Then this guide is for you. The 2022 iPad Pro 12.9 is Apple's best tablet to date, especially if you're a professional creative. And, even though it's the cutting edge of tablet tech, we've already seen some decent discounts crop up every so often.

The 2021 5th Gen iPad Pro 12.9 was the first to feature Apple's own silicon with the M1 chip, but that's since been superseded by the even more dazzling 2022 6th gen model. On this page, we're tracking the best iPad Pro 12.9-inch prices on that most recent generation, which packs a blistering fast M2 chip (see the best iPad Pro 11-inch prices if you want the smaller version of the tablet).

The M2 iPad Pro 12.9 price starts at $1,099 for the 128GB model with wifi connectivity. Trade-in options can lower that price, but the best price without trade-in that we're seeing right now is $1,049 at Amazon, a saving of $50. That's not the best iPad Pro 12.9-inch price on record though and the base model fell below the $1,000 mark earlier in the year. If you want more iPad context, head over to our list of available iPad generations. Otherwise, read on for the best iPad 12.9 prices in your region.

The most expensive iPad of all

The 2022 iPad Pro 12.9 is currently the best iPad available in terms of raw specs, at least if you value power over portability. Understandably, that means that it's also the most expensive iPad. That said, there are deals to be found if you know when and where to look.

For context, the 2022 model of the iPad Pro retails at $1,099/£1,249 for the 128GB wifi model, though you can step up to 256GB, 512GB, 1TB or 2TB (for more money of course). Adding cellular connectivity generally adds $200 / £200 to the price of each.

We do see the iPad Pro 12.9 price drop now and again. For example, during the Amazon Black Friday event in November 2022, the base model dropped from $1,099 to $999. The biggest savings are usually on the more expensive, higher configurations – we've seen up to $400 / £400 shaved off the price of the 1TB and 2TB versions.

Is the iPad Pro 12.9 better than the iPad Pro 11?

The iPad Pro 12.9 is obviously bigger than the iPad Pro 11, but is it better? That depends partly on your requirements. If you prefer a more portable device that's easier to hold in one hand, then you might prefer the 11-inch tablet. Most of the specs of the two tablets are the same, but the 12.9 is better in one key area: the screen:

As well as the screen being larger, making the device a good choice as a laptop replacement, it's also brighter and has better contrast thanks to Apple's Liquid Retina XDR display, which is only currently offered on the 12.9in tablet. To see where both models fall in the wider iPad family see our list of the iPad generations.

Is it worth getting the 12.9-inch iPad Pro keyboard?

The 12.9 inch iPad Pro keyboard – or the Apple Magic Keyboard, to give it its full name – is most definitely worth it, if you want to use your iPad Pro 12.9-inch as both a tablet and a laptop, and especially if you want to get the most recent generation of the keyboard. The iPad Pro 12.9-inch is so powerful, that it really can be used effectively as a laptop with the added Magic Keyboard – and that's coming from a journalist that has used one for his main travel laptop for many months.

It's just a bummer that the iPad Pro 12.9-inch doesn't come with the keyboard. But if you are willing to get the Magic Keyboard, it's a great addition. One word of warning – the most recent 2021 model of the Magic Keyboard does in fact fit the iPad Pro 12.9-inch perfectly, but if you want to use an older generation of keyboard on the iPad Pro 12.9-inch, there will be a slight space around the tablet when you close up the keyboard. It still works fine, but the fit is just a little less snug than with the latest Magic Keyboard.  For case options, with or without a keyboard, see our pick of the best iPad Pro cases.

Will there be a new iPad Pro 12.9 in 2023?

It's understandable that you may want to consider if there's going to be a new model of iPad Pro released in 2023 before buying the 2022 model. However, it seems to be shaping up to be a quiet year for Apple on the iPad front. There were a lot of big releases from the tech giant last year that included a refreshed line up of the iPad range and the long-awaited AirPods Pro 2, so we're not expecting to see new models quite yet. We'll make sure to update this article regularly in case there are rumblings about a new iPad Pro 12.9 release.
